Mahuika in Wrath I have also often referred to this painting as.
Mahuika is the Goddess of Fire. Maui tricked her out of her gift of fire, which were also her children. Of course being tricked out of her children enraged her and this is an interpretation of that moment of wrathful fury.
The paint is layered and in places up to an inch thick. The original drawing and concept went through digital and hand drawn stages.
